I personally really enjoyed this novel.This story mostly focuses on the main couples relationship and political scheming. It doesn't have many action scenes and can feel a bit mundane because of it, but I didn't find it to be too boring.The pacing of the story is good. It doesn't focus too much on unnecessary details and has many time skips to help the story progress for multiple years.The side characters are enjoyable and don't feel too dull.A lot of other people have said that the MC (Lin Qingyu) is cruel and doesn't deserve the ML, but I do not agree with this. While the MC really does know how to hold grudges and can be cruel at times I don't find him to be too unreasonable. He only hurts the people who have wronged him or his loves ones. Also, you can clearly tell that the MC loves the ML and treats him with softness, even if it comes of as cold sometimes. Which is why I don't see why the MC wouldn't deserve the ML.
