both are competent and accomplished adult people who lived twice and died in their mid twenties. She transmigrated and he was reborn as his teenage self. So, it's a romance of two relatively young adults who are in teenage bodies.
She is a scientist, biology and cutting edge agricultural practices is her thing, and she happens to have a tiny magical space with a magical spring, a stash of modern medicines and a survival book with recipes for everything, even for handmade toilet paper in case it is lacking after one has transmiggrated!
He was a high level official in his first life, never married, never even kissed. After rebirth he is initially driven by hatred towards his step-mother who killed his mom and two siblings in his first life and poisoned him so he did not live long either and then by desire to save and protect their lives in this life. He just never expected to find love in this lifetime, let alone to awaken from poisoning (thanks to the FL), reborn and already married! The FL married him when he was on his deathbed, unconscious, and dirt poor to escape her own relatives from hell.
Warning: this is a Chinese revenge novel dealing with parents of the main couple on both sides, the revenge will last the entire novel (!!!) and it gets very ugly eventually (children taking a s*xual route (r*pe drugs, etc.) to fight their mu*derous parents, relatives from hell and their evil associates).
For me the tactics that the FL and her husband deployed on their relatives and adversaries eventually became too disgusting, too dirty and inhumane to continue reading. It wasn't funny nor awesome anymore. It was truly low and boring. The enemies can do it, the main characters should not.
In my opinion, the writer got carried away and spent too much ink on describing evil people and evil deeds in too much detail while the positive things and good people and good deeds were barely mentioned if at all. The FL and the ML who initially craved companionship and good family, a home, totally lost it.
They were not just separated they broke all ties with their blood relatives, their parents no longer recognizing them as their children and wishing them dead and buried. Yet all we read about is how they relate to each other, on every page until the very last page, if it is not about the FL and her maiden family, it's about the ML's father and his new wife and paternal grandma, uncles, cousins et al.
Such life full of hatred, darkness, scheming and insanity does not deserve living it and such a novel was no longer worthy of my time. What's even worse is that the writer completely devalued all that struggle, the second life of the FL and the ML, by reframing it at the end as the time the FL spent in coma in this life (several months), where her soul eventually returns after dying from the old age in ancient China.
So, not only the novel is the figment of the novelist's imagination, the FL's life for 700+chapters is basically a figment of her imagination while her body surrounded by her adoring family rests in coma in a hospital, injured in the explosion in her agricultural research lab. And what's actually "real" for her (and us), after she awakens, is only covered in a couple of extra chapters.
Such novels usually deserve zero stars from me, not my thing, but I will keep the five star rating for this one, because the first 100 - 125 chapters were spectacularly good. If you enjoy revenge novels, this one contains literally hundreds of ways of being mean and the corresponding revenge tactics described in it. And the c*ckroaches, like the FL's father-in-law, never die, not even in the end. They are simply left behind along with their entire world as the FL awakens here and now.
