This is a masterpiece. It’s the same author who wrote Unruly Phoenix Xiaocao, so if you think there’s a lot of similarities between them... you’re correct. UPX was a fun read but this novel is frankly better in every way. It is a straight up comedy so if you’re looking for deep political intrigue you’ll be disappointed, but if you’re looking for a kickass MC who just wants to live a good life while her enemies plot themselves to death around her, then this is for you!The MC doesn’t know (and suuuuper doesn’t care) anything about life in ancient times, but she isn’t s*upid. Cultural misunderstandings abound, and often lead to hilarious (and yes, preposterous) scenes. The ML is noble, brave, capable, and utterly gobsmacked by our heroine. He recognizes and values her uniqueness pretty much from the start and he does his best to support and protect the MC (usually it’s him protecting her from the fallout of her jaw droppingly inappropriate statements lol). The antagonists are interesting too. I hesitate to call them villains because who knows if they aren’t going to be swayed to the MCs side in another couple dozen chapters. XD There’s minimal death seeking cannon fodder, which is a relief. The emperor is indeed fatuous and s*upid, but in a more realistic way than is typical. Lots of cnovel villains are “s*upid” because they act like their entire purpose for being is to obstruct the protagonists. This guy is just not very bright and easily manipulated.I just really like this book okay. It’s pure entertainment, wonderfully done. If you liked UPX (or even if you’ve never heard of UPX then you’ll definitely like this. If you disliked UPX, give this a try anyways! It’s definitely worth your time.
