This is a disappointment, nothing more, nothing less. The novel starts well enough, introducing us to Carsein and his adoptive family, and how he is mistreated, and how he tries to swerve the situation to his favor. But the misery train just keep going on and on without ever stopping. Too much idiotic regret, I feel suffocated reading this.Seriously, when his sister started crying because she fed him allergic food in the past, I could feel my goosebumps from the cringe. Even the romantic interest Harnie becomes a bit too unrealistic towards the later half. You are telling me a noble lady can sleep on ground and finds 'the warmth and freedom of commoners' refreshing?Carsein himself seems to selfishly accept all the benefits provided by duchy, but plotting behind them secretly. He is too childish, his plans extremely ordinary, yet everything seems to go his way. Honestly, this novel is not much different from those Chinese wish-fulfillment novels, just a difference in setting.
