Arcs are generally interesting and I enjoy when MC is able to use his identity as a cat to his advantage. That said a lot of the arcs (particularly in later chapters) drag on far too long. Individually, MC and ML are interesting but they don't fit well together. The misunderstandings due to ML not knowing MC's identity are tiresome and it feels as though ML impedes rather than helps the MC. At other points it feels like MC impedes ML and it doesn't feel as though they really balance and support each other. This may be due to a lack of chemistry and I'm usually not one to complain about that sort of thing. All of that being said, I've read a fair bit of this novel and haven't yet dropped it. The early arcs where MC is on his own are delightful and there are a number of times I genuinely laughed. It's possible that the lack of chemistry can still be salvaged once the misunderstandings are resolved. That is assuming it happens before the novel is literally over.
