A Precious Pearl in the Imperial City Chapter Completed Discussion

I really love the stories made by this author since they always seem to give you a sense of hope that no matter how dark and evil human hearts could get, light, warmth, and love would always prevail inside. Some of the characters may go for their intended cliched role such as some of the princes scheming and vying for the throne yet failing in the end. Most of them were unexpected though since both leads have loving families, especially for the emperor to not suddenly suspect his own favorite son.

FL is definitely like a rare specimen when she entered the imperial palace as ML's wife. She is straightforward, pure, a bit naive, and innocent. She is very coquettish towards her family and ML and ML's mom. She believes in the goodness in ML and ML's mom because Spoiler

they saved her when she was a lot younger. At that time, she was tied up, gagged, and thrown to the river. ML and ML's mom happened to pass by and fished her up to save her. This incident did end up saving ML and ML's mom since they weren't able to go to the restaurant where assassins were waiting.

[collapse] FL initially treated ML as her benefactor and just wanted to ensure that ML is happy, healthy, and safe. However, ML fell for her at first sight and was extremely doting to her and they end up marrying from an arranged marriage. FL trusts, loves, and protects ML wholeheartedly. By the way, she is actually pretty strong to protect herself and others and is unexpectedly sharp when it comes to sensing schemes against them.

ML started as an unmotivated, hedonistic, and domineering prince as he is favored by the emperor and his mother is the most loved concubine of the emperor (the emperor didn't have an empress at the start Spoiler

[collapse] so ML's mom has the highest rank in the harem). Unlike imperial families in other novels, ML, the emperor, and his mom got along like a real family. ML didn't want the throne as he believes his father is still young and he didn't need to rush like his other siblings. After meeting his fiance, FL, he grew to like her and changed himself to be the best partner for her. He is very doting and sweet towards FL and he never forgives anyone who dares to scheme or bully FL. It was satisfying watching the prince grow and hone himself in order to receive praises from FL lol.

There were a few schemes against the leads in the novel after all the novel involves the imperial throne struggles between princes. There were more easily resolved though, unlike other novels. I was so proud that I correctly guessed who has been scheming against the leads for so long throughout the novel. I'm really glad that ML and FL have each other. The supporting characters were also well-written!!! I just hoped there were side stories of when ML and FL finally became emperor and empress and when they have their kids. The kids must be really adorable T^T.
