I'm usually lucky when start reading a book and it turns out to be part of the same series. And intuitively, without even guessing yet, I choose the right order.

What's all this for? First I read "Criminal Investigation Files". And this novel is not bad, but it seemed mediocre to me. In many ways naive, and the psychological approach is too weak. Then I accidentally switched to "Criminal Investigation Notes". And almost from the very beginning of reading I felt that the novel was written later. It is more thoughtful, elaborate and interesting. Again, from the psychological point of view, it is more adequate and comprehensive.

Of course, there are plot holes. And moments that make you want to roll your eyes. BUT! The novel is good, quite smooth and interesting. It had the same feeling that the author was also developing and growing in his work.

Regarding the main characters: I like them. Their relationship and connection with each other. The amnesia trope isn't irritating or awkward. And everything develops naturally and pleasantly.

There is a high probability that I will re-read the novel.
