I’ll Be The Warrior’s Mother Chapter 54 Discussion

For a novel with a marriage happening in the first 5 chapters this story sure drags. It's not a bad novel necessarily if you can ignore the snail's pace but for me, it all got a bit too frustrating. It feels like everything and everyone is against the main character to the point where ridiculously complicated things are being demanded of her for the sake of saving the world and yet not a single person is on her side. Her husband has the communication skills of a stale piece of bread. The old lady who gave her the knowledge of the future to begin with is an absolute self important douche, and even the blasted butler doesn't respect her or her authority, actively goes against her orders as the duchess behind her back and gives something she told him to destroy directly to the duke instead.

The entire situation is so much more stifling and frustrating than the author paints it as, and the complete lack of emotional response from the main character that comes as a consequence makes it hard to even stand her, let alone relate to her. The circumstances so far are so ridiculously against the MC she should by all means be having a breakdown, but all she does is lightly complain and then immediately recover because someone said her hair is pretty.

It's an unreasonable plotline that should've been treated as such, and weighed heavily on the MC, but her frustration and despair to save THE ENTIRE WORLD is often written off as a silly little comedy moment. It got to the point where I felt angry reading every chapter because it felt like MC and the author had collectively the EQ of a burnt toast, and none of the absolute unfairness of MC's situation was ever properly addressed and reacted to beyond occasional complaints that led nowhere, because the MC was busy feeling sorry for the ML instead. You know, the one whose shoulders DO NOT have the weight of the entire f*cking world.

If at least this phase of the story was shorter, I'd be willing to brave through it. But I am unfortunately not willing to brave through over 100 chapters of MC running around desperately trying to save the world while EVERYTHING ELSE tried very hard to make it all even more difficult for her.
