Before the Cannon Fodder Eloped Chapter 39 Discussion

I'm really enjoying this so far. I like that it's more focusing on the MC and her making it through life rather than romance. Especially for this type of novel. Hope that it continues like this till the end. I've only read up to ch. 39 on MTL but there's a part that really hit home for me and was interesting to see. Spoiler

MC father died and so they give him a funeral. There's a part in the chapter where MC aunt tells MC and her sister that when the funeral is happening they have to perform a funeral cry through out the whole thing and MC finds it awkward. Same here the first time I experienced it. My parents converted to Christianity when they came to a North America so when I was born a lot of the stuff that my parents grew up with and is part of our culture and customs, I was never exposed very much. They grew up in the back waters in the jungle like the MC and the funeral customs and procedures are exactly the same. So reading it is interesting to me. In our old culture they practiced shamanism and had someone like Uncle Wu who is like the Shamen or witch doctor be their spiritual leader and doctor. The first time I experienced this type of funeral was my dads grandpas funeral and it was a total cultural shock to me. It's really scary if you hear how they cry. Especially the old aunties and grandmas. You can also have professionals crying at the funeral as well I heard and there's also a certain way you have to cry- and they will hire the old aunties and grandmas to cry for the dead in the way like how the aunt explains to MC all 7 days. Anyways for those who are not familiar with this and when you get to this part and is confused. It's a real custom and because I've experienced it before it brought a lot of memories back for me. The whole funeral scene was accurate with staying overnight with the body to crying and all that and they do this for 7 days. I'm not sure if other Asian cultures do this as well or similar but I like how detail the author is and explained some of it. But yea, the crying is no joke.

completed the novel and I enjoyed it lots. 4.5⭐️ There were parts I wished the author wrote more about Spoiler

like the MC mother. MTL only had up to 123 chapters. Not sure if ch 124-127 are extras and missing which will address the mv mother but yea I really wanted to get more info about that situation. I wanted the mother to regret abandoning the MC and her siblings and father.
