Dandere General and his Lord Chapter 30 Discussion

I have two problems with this story, that led me to dropping it:

    1. Structure of the story. It does not flow naturally. At no point does the world feel fleshed out or the events really connected or realistic. MC need to be at hot spring to care for a s*ave? poof she's there for weeks. Rescue orphans? shove them in carriage and never hear of them before they are perfectly accepted/integrated handmaids. s*ave wants to see the lord or lord wants to see s*ave? the world is suddenly empty and without doors or conventions. Minister with power and connections needs attitude check? suddenly he's alone and without connection. It makes little sense
    2. The bait and switch. The author obviously wants to write homos*xual romance, and obviously has the MC come to terms with being attracted to another man. The fact that it will be reverted down the line like "lol, you were always into girls, not like those degenerate gay rapjsts" is infuriating. As is the fact that so far all the corrupt evil bastards are gays rapists and the good guys are asexuals or in love with the FL.
That the society is so obviously gay with little to zero women present, I can accept, it's some sort of extreme fusion of ancient gay greece and fantasy china. Why not.

I disagree with the idea that the world is hard/gritty. It's not because you have s*aves and gay r*pe that it's not a bit full of carebears on most other themes. The FL ordering one spy executed is treated as some huge thing but it's... normal? And the main trope of the story is the MC being some sort of wimpy insecure golden retriever. Imagine the couple being dropped in a real gritty setting, like, I don't know, game of thrones. They wouldn't even be a match for the kindest of the good guys.

I stopped at the moment where the couple ended alone in the middle of nowhere despite being at the center (and leaders) of a marching army one sentence before. I cannot keep rolling my eyes while reading
