A fun, promising story. However, that's on the premise that you recognize it for what it is - a light-hearted harem romcom - and bear no further expectations for it. I think the reviewers who were disappointed with it had greater expectations (that it would have deeper plot or deep romance), but if they took it as a casual read, they'd enjoy themselves more.It's a simple setting and plot: it's just another xianxia setting with a simple plot of MC standing in for a villain and collecting a harem. It's nothing great, but it isn't done poorly, either.The protagonist is okay. He's not particularly unique, but he doesn't really have anything bad about him. Some people complained he was arrogant, but he's not really going around doing or saying arrogant things (i.e. his arrogance is backed by his strength and background, so he has right to some arrogance, and he rarely does anything excessive). Remember that he has been acting as a villain for years (before the story started), so he's already used to the xianxia setting of might makes right and a villain's ways. Expecting him to be a humble nobody is some new kind of delusion.The harem is fun and cute - especially the two strongest love interests are quite cute, but it takes time to develop sometimes. Some love interests are indeed too shallow, that I will admit.
