I think the story is good. It is quite entertaining to read so I give it a 4 star rating. The things that entertained me were the struggles of the MC and how he tried hard to overcome his circumstances as well as the effort of the prince in the latter parts of the story.

However, I didn't really feel much for the characters. The characters that I liked are actually side characters. The MC is admirable, but I am more invested in his struggles than on him as a character. He is a likable character tho because despite his circumstances he was able to grow out of it and fight for himself. He isn't entirely dependent on the ML.Spoiler

This is the reason why the ML realized his worth and started treasuring him

If you are into violent and possessive semes turning into sweet and gentle ones and trying hard to change for their object of affection, this is for you. If you are able to withstand almost a hundred chapters of ab*se and sadness for the MC, then surely you would enjoy this. As for me however, I liked the guard in this story so naturally it was only him that I could support for the MC.

Why do I support Song Qing for the MC? He was actually the only real one who cared for MC. They have the most wholesome moments in the story. They pull each other up and that scene when for the first time he called the MC by his nickname -- "Yu-er." My heart melted. You wonder why it was not him he fell in love with. He used to be so naive and blinded towards the Prince, that was understandable since it was his first time that he was attached to someone else that is not his mother, but.. Why can't he feel the same towards Song Qing? There was even a time where the prince got jealous of Song Qing because the MC and him had a good relationship. Plus MC said that he was the only one he can rely on in the latter part of the story. This is my frustration really. And this frustration lead me to imagine Song Qing as the ML. Song Qing has his own pair tho, that person, while I'm ok towards, is questionable because he frequently drugged Song Qing in order to have s*x with him. Plus because of jealousy there was a time that he bullied MC.

I was debating whether to drop this or not since I already witnessed what I wanted to read in this story but I also wanted to know the events that would lead the couple to finally be together so I guess I have to continuing mtling this until the end. I'll prolly imagine some other character as the ML.

I am also confused at some parts. Maybe it was because I mtled but there were things that made go, "how did you know? Didn't you say earlier that you had no idea about such and such because your parents didn't tell you anything, " and "how did this even happen?" Seriously, this is also sorta harem-ish so if you hate that then this would piss you off because everyone falls in love with the MC except that two concubines of the prince, Red Lotus and Song Qing.Spoiler

This is also one of the reasons why for me, Song Qing is the true nth-lead. And his "falling in love" with the MC (I'm not sure if he was really in love romantically or he just sees his first love in MC that's why he's like that but I think he actually liked him slightly in that way altho not really strong enough to be called romantic in nature. Its really more platonic).

[collapse]Everyone is just aholes to me.

I have to mention though that the reason why MC woke up from his love was true to the nature of the ML who is the most selfish and arrogant bastard there is. I thought this bit was ??? At first but then I realized this was truly something the ML would do based on his personality so I guess it's ok.

Not everyone will enjoy this story because of the relationship of the characters and sometimes annoying softness of the MC towards ML but I guess to those who aren't really that picky with their ship dynamic and accept anything as long as it is entertaining, this is for you.
