I surprisingly really liked this novel! I’ve been reading the manhua so even if the translation isn’t that far I have read a bit farther.I initially though the MC would just be another pretty faced doormat for all the ab*se to happen too, but he’s probably the most realistic character out of the bunch. Yes he is very meek and naive, but it makes sense because of his upbringing. And even more surprisingly he has a whole character arc where he matures and fully rejects the ML!!I didn’t mind the ML. He’s a pretty stereotypical overpowering gong type and can sometimes feel kind of bland, but it’s not bad enough to be distracting. I actually do understand why the MC falls in love with him initially even if he’s abusive, but it’s really satisfying to see him get his comeuppance and have to work for the MC’s affection.I absolutely loved the drama. I am someone who loves tragedy and heartbreak to this was perfect for me. Spoiler
The scene where the ML breaks the red bean dice and the MC try’s to speak even though he’s mute and it just comes out as wails, had me in tears. It’s probably my favorite part of the whole novel.
[collapse]If you don’t like tragedy or ab*se I’d 100% steer clear, but if you’re like me and love to see characters destroy each other emotionally and physically then this is the novel for you!
