Before diving into the review, let's summarize the story. Our MC is the eldest prince of a small country near the Forest of Monsters. His ancestors were ancient heroes, but that's not really important. There's some political drama, and he gets poisoned and almost dies. So, he starts eating monster meat, meets his Master while hunting, and they train together for three years. He then decides to flee the country after getting strong enough, but things don't go as planned. He gets tangled up in misunderstandings, ends up leading a rebellion, and expanding his territory, even though he just wants a peaceful life. His subordinates and wives are all incredibly competent, and now he's one of the most powerful people on the continent, praised for his greatness and intellect. It's a wild ride, and he's probably the only normal person in his entire country—just really strong. Now, onto the review. The story is straightforward but doesn't feel forced. As the author mentioned in their afterthoughts, you don't need to make the plot overly complex or take it in various directions. Making it entertaining and interesting is enough. The comedy is solid, and the story doesn't take itself too seriously. The narrative style is reminiscent of The Eminence in Shadow but with kingdom-building elements similar to Tensura. The protagonist has above-average intellect—not outstanding, but not bad either. He's essentially a normal person but still one of the strongest characters in the series. And he's the only sane person in his kingdom, which is pretty funny. His words are always misinterpreted causing a lot of misunderstandings. He's a bit like Cid Kagenou, though their personalities differ.Overall, the story isn't deep or thought-provoking, and the world-building is simple. The narrative isn't serious, but it's quite entertaining. It's worth a read.I also recommend checking out the author's other series, Who Killed The Hero. It's unrelated to this story but good in its own right. Plus, it's short, only 10 chapters, so you might want to give it a try.• • •PS. I don't think the story is finished yet. The author mentioned a third volume to wrap things up, but the ending felt too rushed. The final chapter just glossed over a lot of stuff, and honestly, that single chapter could've easily been stretched into two more volumes. I'm really hoping for that third volume, though.Another thing, there's no romance at all. The MC's wives are just weird, and it's kind of funny watching him try to tolerate their eccentricities. They're more like quirky side characters than romantic interests. Also Gadgetized Panda should really fix their "next" button, it doesn't work as intended.
