I think the author knows this is absolute shit, because every 5th chapter or so is dense with either action or plot progression. Author gives readers just enough to fuel hope for the story actually being good, while churning out bland, boring, generic tr*sh 80% of the time. And the overarching drama with the "childhood friend" was handled so unbelievably poorly that I felt personally insulted, like the author was trolling and intentionally wasting my time while laughing about tricking people into reading for as long as they did. This is a BAD novel.
