I kept trying to read this and just had to give up. The only thing in this story that isn’t bland is the food that the MC cooks. The setup for the story, with MC as a former servant/s*ave and her husband as a leader in an ancient army, could have done a lot of interesting things that you don’t get with the similar “marrying an army dude in the 60s/70s and living in the family compound” stories... but no, it’s less interesting than those. The characters have no personality. MC has no imperfections. Making money is s*upidly easy. There’s no conflict between her modern views and the ancient setting. There are so many other stories in this genre that I’d recommend reading this one only if you’re interested in what the MC (and the author) has to say about healthy food. Because the MC’s background was running a weight-loss clinic which *checks notes* enables her to live effortlessly in ancient times.
