As I Faked Amnesia, My Love Rival Claimed that I am His Boyfriend Chapter 18 Discussion

Well.... I need to start with the fact, that the chapters are free until chapter 18, and from 19 they are paid. I came here to check if other sites picked it up or not (considering that they are most likely translating without permission, I don't feel comfortable if I *have to* pay, as opposed to having the opportunity to donate), and then I was whacked in the face with the review from Ireadbl.

Oh boy.

The novel starts off good. The summary doesn't show any hidden daggers, and while amnesia is an overplayed trope, the story itself was nice and well written. You first get the description of their relationship before MC and ML meet again, and there is nothing outrageous in it, sounds mostly innocent. Teens. Especially since we know that ML is almost definitely in love with MC, his behaviour makes sense, he isn't bothering MC for no reason. Even after they meet again, ML acts nice and caring. Altough it is sketchy that he lies about being MC's boyfriend, he does genuinely seem (mostly) sane. We then get a description about their relationship when they were even younger (before finding out their secondary gender), and it sounds really bittersweet. Makes ML's attitude towards MC even more clear, and you can really understand what kind of situation he is struggling with.

Chapter 18 ends with ML trying to convince MC into intimacy, which, sketchy. From ML's point of view MC knows nothing, and is easily tricked, which he tries to take advantage of. But up till this point, there is nothing outrageous that has happened. This story really sells "mostly innocent, bit of angst, lots of fluff" very well. MC seems like he simply encountered bad luck, but he isn't in bad hands, while ML seems (mostly) sane and kind.

And then there is this other review, that tells me that apparently the characters here are insane, and the relationship is far from healthy. Well, damn. I was sold on this story up till now, but I'm glad to have read the spoilers. It's not worth reading further.
