The reason is the stories ML about ten years old boy who is too manipulative for his age. I would to say, he is mentally ill. Even if count in the background story like the boy for one year raised in bad environment, I think its to much to make the boy lost control over his temper that much, I mean he is too violence for ten years boy. He hurt his self to seeking attention from MC, it just. No.

And, I am not fans of romanticize of mental ill in sociopath side
