This is really a unique novel. Firstly I would like to say I do not recommend this novel if you are interested in a hot or heavy romance. The main couple in this novel experiences a slow burn romance. Emphasis on slow... You know the truth of their situation well before they both do and then have to painfully watch as they dance around each other missing clues and etc. I find this aspect kind of frustrating and not too interesting. However on the other hand, they are truly made for each other so I am still rooting for them. What really impressed me in this novel is the complex world building and multiple plots. There are plots within plots. And then an overarching plot. And all of it is woven together somehow seamlessly. Furthermore, this story is one of those stories where the main character transmigrates to several different places/has multiple world missions. Yet all of the worlds and premises are wonderfully unique. Many of them play with existing tropes and storylines but they all have a very novel perspective and twist. I am always looking forward to how the main character will bring a new spin on his situation.Quick Remarks on Different Arcs so far: "Genius Cannonfodder's Counterattack Record" is in a modern setting and a unique take on a typical modern revenge story. "Getting Rid of that Bigshot" is also a modern setting with an interesting exploration of racism and domestic violence. "Love Song on Ice" takes place in the figure skating world and has themes of exploring where one should draw their motivation from. "I Hear I'm a Battle God" is the most omegaverse story I have ever read. "The Cycle of Karma, What Goes Around Comes Around" was a truly impressive horror world which I found both fascinating and scary. Really scary. "Raising a Big Cat in the Apocalypse" really explores the meaning of humanity. I will say though in this arc I was really dissatisfied with the revenge, Spoiler
the designated "scum gong" of this arc genuinely just didn't understand humanity due to his poor upbringing yet through the arc he goes through an amazing character development discovering what being human is and what it is like to build connections with people. Except in the end he turns into a robot basically. I was really disappointed because the whole point of his growth was to learn emotions and being human and prove that he isn't heartless like A.I. only for him to turn into A.I. in the end... At least the A.I. in this world is really advanced and capable of developing an equivalent of feelings. But it was really disappointing.
[collapse] "System vs. System" is a very novel take on xianxia. The author is truly talented on working with any genre I really enjoyed the stories themselves. There is also a lot of music woven into the story as the main character is always referencing different songs, so I feel like my knowledge of Chinese musicians has really increased lol.But anyways, this is a very unique novel I do recommend it just for the novel experience.
