The novel City of Witches offers an intriguing premise of a genius mathematician getting stranded in a secret city of witches after a plane crash. He learns to use magic in order to try to escape. The world building seems very immersive and imaginative, with good attention to detail in establishing the workings of the witch city. I appreciate how rigid and ruthless the hierarchy is. However, for someone who is supposed to be a genius, it often feels like the MC is dumb as sh*t. The actions he makes sometimes even reach the level of wondering if he is actually brain dead. But if you can make it past this or if you are only reading this for the 'cultured' scenes, then you can truly enjoy the world building and setting of the novel. The translation quality is excellent as always.Personally, it is not for me but you should always try out at least 50 chapters of a novel before dropping it.
