(said by the ML himself in chapter 1065 where he compares his passionate past-life love for Liu Shi with his comfortable, after having children, love for Yun Xi). He even says if his daughter hadn't arrived he might have made a mistake with Liu Shi.
I don't want to waste my time reading more than a thousand chapters about the main couple having six children reaching their teens, not to mention all the contributions Yun Xi has apparently made for the ML's cause, only for the ML to be infatuated with a dream version of another woman he loved in his last life. This is too disappointing. If this had happened at the beginning when their relationship wasn't stable, I would have been able to look past it, but after all they've been through together over such a long time, it makes him seem like a thoughtless and irresponsible man and I don't want to waste my time on him.
And even worse, even Yun Xi herself knows that even if he didn't sleep with Liu Shi and finally (due to the daughter's threats only) sent Liu Shi away, people will still think she was his woman and he only sent her away because he was scared of his jealous and vicious wife. So FL is still getting the worst of it because of his selfishness, yet the ML never once thinks about what his actions would do to his wife.
Reading up to 1089, he may say he was careless but he has yet to really reflect on himself, which becomes especially clear when his daughter asks him how he would feel if the FL took in a male musician and listened to him play every day. It seems the ML is more concerned about possibly losing the children and being lonely and losing his comfortabl home life than truly caring and loving Yun Xi.
The last straw for me is when between chapter 1130-1140 the ML's childhood friend and subordinate plans to rebel and kill the FL's brother and the ML tries to hide it afterwards from the FL to protect his friend. He is a weak-minded person who should never have a position of power in anything, and the worst is all characters always keep saying that, including the ML, and yet the ML keeps making disappointing and useless decisions to protect his friends. But this one is utterly unforgiveable, but of course the author brushes over that for the sake of the ML and makes the FL mad for all of five seconds. Poor Yun Xi, now I wish this novel that had potential would have been written without a male lead.
