MC was sent to a fantasy world, and when he finally makes it home after 10 years he finds out the Earth turned into a Hunter/Gate world. Now he needs to adjust to a changed world and a changed family. While he still has morals and cares about others, his experiences have made him ruthless. It's a bit of a dark, revenge-focused story, but it isn't as grimdark as other similar works. MC actually has empathyAs for the writing, it's very obvious that this is written by a guy. I don't know how to explain it, but some novels you can't tell the gender of the author, some are obviously written by a woman, and some are obviously written by a man. This is one of those that has guy-writing. Despite this the female characters are treated relatively well; not every woman falls in love with the MC at first sight, they don't only exist to be damsels in distress, and as the MC's crew comes together there are actually multiple (!) female characters who join him who aren't flat side characters. They don't really get to do much at first, but everyone even male characters are ineffectual because the MC is just too OP so it's not because female characters are being portrayed as strong in name but weak in execution. There are other aspects of the writing that dodge annoying writing issues as well. There's a romantic subplot but it's not *too* intrusive and they officially put it on the back burner until the big bad is defeated. I find it kind of annoying but it's at the level that I can ignore it, and while not completely non-romance it's worth trying out if you're interested.4/5. While there are a few things about the plot and writing I dislike it's overall very good.
