Not really bad, but not outstanding either.

The point that bother me is the author try to justify why X character act that way, but that stay sloppy in the end.

MC was kick out of the team for 2 reasons :

  • The mage see him as a threat for her, since MC was better valued at the very start of the journey
  • The hero wanted too for... reasons, officially because he believes in the individual strength, that clash against MC who is specialized in supporting others.
The hero motive is really unclear. He tries to appeal reasonable, but in opposite of his "reasoning" there is no real motives for him to wants MC departure. When we see him again later, he appears childish, act like a snob and ask for a duel then claim MC cheats because he used his support magic to win. But there is no real grudge or purpose to his action so far. In resume, the hero act as if he has a personal grudge against MC, but he didn't know him for long and there is no event mentioned at all who could have trigger an inferiority complex, that weird.

MC's childhood friends is "supposed" to be better than others because she really didn't notice MC's harassment. But it's hard to swallow. She didn't notice MC change his fighting style, but he was mage banned to use his magic. His work in battle was to keep potion safe and give them when needed.

Everyone around them spreading rumors about MC behavior with girls, alright, I give her that. If 30 peoples say something, it's hard to believe everyone lied, but when she did confront MC about it. It's not to listen to his version of what going on, but to him admitting his fault. And somehow, after MC left, she learns that all the drama around MC were lies, but still, she believes in the hero and his party.Spoiler

She has still faith because the hero truly believes that forbidding the MC (a mage) to uses magic was a good idea.

Also, she understood that Lana the mage behavior toward MC was directly the reason why everyone in the team look down on MC. She sees her treated him like a s*ave, but she still likes her, worse she appreciates her combative trait. At this point, childhood take apart, I wonder if she was a friend to begin with.

[collapse]

MC claims that he can't be in a team anymore, because he was bullied in the hero team, he can't have trust in other anymore. That why he bought s*ave as teammates. But it's never show in the story, MC has no problem to communicate at all. He doesn't have a negative view of the world, even a little, or just being overcautious around peoples. That make me think the author just make him bought s*aves like needed accessories in the setting. Because MC didn't buy them right away, but after a year of being solo. He didn't talk about the need of teammate at all before he decided to buy them.

Good points :

  • There is a MALE TEAMMATE
  • No ecchi stuff with the girls
  • No instant love after girls meets MC
  • The hero isn't entirely the culprit in the bullying, some unrelated people add their salt too. It's a bit of realism I like
