There ML suffered a lot and even fought bears. One part made me think he was r*ped, but I'm not sure (this part says he was being bullied, ML screamed "don't touch me" and the bad guy said they had to teach him how to serve people - they believed ML was an omega here). So, he did his best to survive and wished to leave that abyss. He is very small for an alpha because he never had enough to eat. But the novel don't go too deep into the details of everything that happened to ML - some parts are clear, other we only get a hint. But its bad and sad.
Anyway, ML has a high pheromone compatibility with MC and became obsessed with him.
