I'm pretty torn on this rating to be honest. What carries this story, and what fails this story both, are the characters. Many of the characters have their past ghosts explored, their motives plumbed and their worries aired. They don't start attached to the Female lead from the start like many a bad Shoujo novel.However... 95% of the male cast act like, or are, completely insufferable human tr*sh when they're introduced. Many of them do have character advancement and improve as the story continues... However another gets introduced, and then another, and yet another.If this novel was a Shoujo Ai instead of a Shoujo it would be a 4.5 for me. The female cast are generally pleasant and interesting.As for the plot... Eh... It's got ok mystery, intrigue, and politics. But the story is usually just bullying the shy MC in many different ways by many different people and passing it off as humor. As a shy antisocial myself I empathized with her a lot, honestly surprised I made it as far as I did. Likely won't return tho
