Imo, this is one of the better historical novels mostly because it doesn't have any of my dealbreakers: no op leads, no harem/ characters all falling over the lead, lead is unrealistically skilled/knowledgeable.

The FL is definitely realistic. She's from an ordinary background and her skills are all explained by her past experiences. She's not amazingly cunning or such, but it's nice to see her trying and to grow in her own confidence.

The ML is cold and suprisingly isn't all-powerful all the time, needing other's counsel and help. He also doesn't like women due to some traumatic experiences in his past and it was one of the more interesting plot points, too. Spoiler

He caught his main wife with another woman. This is why they hate each other.

And also their son Xiao Bao is adorable and Spoiler

also reincarnated and just wants to be with the mom he wasn't able to meet in the last life. Even though smart for a kid, I like that he doesn't have much ability beyond using his baby charms. He's as much of a cunning person as his father and helps along the plot without anyone realizing it.

Overall, I personally loved it and binge read it. Thanks to the translator for sharing this novel. It's a real gem.
