I give this novel 3 stars.There are parts that I like, but there are also a lot that I don't like. To me, it's one of those novels that makes me feel conflicted.I like that Yao Yaoniang (FL) grew a bit smarter than she was before. Not the smartest, but still much smarter compared to her past life. But I don't like how people just kept on describing her as a pretty face, pretty body, but is s*upid. Specially Jin Wang (ML) himself, and sometimes even their son, Xiaobao, whom I may add is still few months old for most parts of the novel. I'm extremely bothered by how they're just straight up calling her s*upid, be it verbally or on their own mind.Other than that, I also don't like ML that much. He is obsessed with FL but I can't say for sure if he genuinely loves her. We all know for a fact that he loves her body, even FL herself knows that. But to me, I really think that's all the point. ML loves her body so much he grew attracted and attached to her. He's so satisfied with her body that he developed feelings for her later on. At some point, it is shown that he did like her as in personality wise, but still, I just don't think it's genuine. I'm bothered by the fact that ML r*ped FL couple of times (2 or 3 times??) and they still end up together anyways because whether FL likes it or not, ML has the power that she needs in order to protect herself and her son from others, and at the same time, that same power makes it impossible for her to just runaway with the hopes of him letting her go.But then again, this novel is set on a very old chinese timeline where men rules and women obeys. It's the time where men can just stand there with their names and titles whilst the women would wag their tail and kill one another in hopes of catching the attention of a man. I can complain all I want about how bothered I am that these powerful women kept on fighting amongst themselves when they could have strived on their own rather than to rely on men, but I can't do anything about it anyways.I was supposed to finish this novel but I can't help but be bothered about everything so for the meantime I'll be stopping at this chapter. I'm not sure whether I'll go back and continue this but I'll leave a review anyways.I'm not sure if I recommend this novel. If you're looking for a strong and smart FL that got reincarnated back in time and would use her knowledge of the future to face slap her enemies, then this novel is NOT IT. FL is depicted as nice, naive, s*upid, pretty, and voluptuous. But to me, she thinks carefully but isn't too smart, she's naive but is not s*upid, she doesn't like confrontations or schemes so she doesn't side with anyone that may harm herself or her son, she's submissive but tries to speak up when she really doesn't want to do what they're making her to do, and above all, she's a mother.If you're looking for a powerful, domineering, cold ML yet is sweet and clingy to the FL, is also possessive and obsessed with her but is still respectful and doesn't cross boundaries with no consent, then this is also NOT IT. ML is indeed domineering, powerful, cold, and is also not close to women, but when he did get attracted to someone, he straight up gets possessive and obsessed with that someone aka our FL. He goes to her place and does her whenever he wants which is almost everyday, she wants their relationship to be hidden from the people but he let the others caught them doing the deed just so their relationship would be known to everyone and to show that she's his, he forced her a few times and didn't verbally apologized for those (at least I don't remember anything like that happening), and overall just acts based on his own wants and needs.
