According to the translator, 196 is the end of the story proper. Assuming that's the case, it was bad enough that I felt the need to actually write a review for the first time. The story up to that point wasn't bad. The setting was believable enough. I generally liked the way that the author handled Orthus'/Seretina's difficulties with regaining their swordsmanship. Overall I was fine with settling in for the long road to enjoy what the tags made me assume was some very slow burn yuri.Sadly, while it had a fair amount of focus on female characters it didn't end up getting around to any strong GL plot before the rug pull of an ending. The translator suspects that the author just kinda gave up on the story. Given the number of hanging major plot threads I'm inclined to agree. The author provided zero closure for any character, explained next to nothing about the nature and motivation of the actual primary antagonist, barely followed through on numerous character arcs, and worst of all Spoiler
decided to mu*der the female love interest they'd been building up for the sole purpose of giving the MC a chance to "forgive" the new friend-turned-antagonist.
[collapse] It's just plain poor storytelling, full stop.I can't honestly think of what kind of person I'd recommend this to. Masochists with a really specific kink for authors disregarding their time, maybe?
