She's born to one of many recently established peasant village on the far outskirts. It's more or less designed to fail killing everyone with starvation and reducing the total burden of the territory quietly (Which is why in the early story everyone is an idiot). Non-magic humans are generally on the level of s*aves and cattle with a few exceptions. Tools, material and manufacturing were strictly controlled to make sure mages will remain in power. Non-magic methods of manufacturing similarly is illegal. The mage class themselves are now facing a crisis due to a lack of new mages being born which compounds several issues since they made themselves the backbone of the economy. The non magic folks are unbelievably oppressed and the magic folks are on the brink of a societal collapse of their own making. The class distinction is so high than in a school where the top magic ojou-sama get's into a conflict with our non-magic MC she doesn't even get mad or know how to respond. To her it's like seeing a talking cow. It's just so weird that she's not even sure if she's supposed to be offended at the livestock.
[collapse]You have to do some reading in between the lines since the MC herself doesn't actually know beyond what she sees. It's easy to ignore the underlying world building because honestly that stuff happens on the macro economy. It doesn't effect someone on a day to day bases usual. But it's there, and it effects in subtle ways that may just be overlooked as the normal isekai/LN tropes. Until it gets to the point it comes crashing down and her Slice of Life is altered forever. The only complaint I have now is that I wish she would just go and save the world! But, her goal isn't to save the world. She's simply just one girl who's aiming for a better life for herself. You know, like everyone else.
