Mixed feelings. I thought I knew what I was reading until ch 100-ish. The good is: Practical approach to entertainment business. Actors often has to practice lines and expressions, think about scene delivery etc. There are company politics and use of connections in order to get roles. After rebirth everything and everyone around MC has a different trajectory, small or big. ML started out as like a big brother to underaged MC. Some of MC's struggles made me cry.

Then god-author kinda forced them together in a crude way. After that MC-ML just change characters. MC post ch97 feels like author's wish-fulfilment, especially his reactions, dialogues and actions. ML feels like the ideal husband/cook/idol who is just there to be read books and cook, and unable to keep from smiling because of MC. Author also uses 'reference' films heavily, good movies but taken out of context/ripped of their history, they're also not produced within months of each other.... It feels like fanfiction the longer it goes on. Maybe I analyse it too deeply...

Despite that, the novel is ambitious and some interactions with MC's friends/adopted family are fun to read. Every mama characters kinda fight to absorb MC into their family... if you like Rebirth of silkpants bottom, rebirth of a supermodel, you'll enjoy this one. Rambling below:

There was chemistry before, author... where did it go? why did ML who is suspected as*xual suddenly become any other ML? That dream is the whole reason why ML fell in love this quickly. But that dream was bc MC's afraid ML will fall to long coma.

ML: ever since that R18 dream... I keep thinking ab MC

ML: I've never fallen in love, but this dream makes me realise when I do that kind of thing with someone I also feel good! So I love him

despite long build-up, MC's nemesis was too easy to handle. Feels cheap.

( (when MC-ML shot that Lan movie, ML showed his professionalism that I admire again, that gave me strength to read more.. I skimmed the next few chapters after ch 116, before skimming I wondered what's with system just disappearing, and author making MCML star in controversial TNM square movie.... but then it got explained.))

Author was making MC and ML star in all the masterpieces that has ever been made in china-HK-taiwan region in the last 20 years. Check out Lan Yu, it's a TNM square gay movie, as for the masterpiece factor, it would be ab the history part. Author kept the BL part and removed the TNM part... which makes sense, there's no way MC-ML can star in that movie if it has TNM part. But it feels lazy and less-than when you use epic movies as reference and then discard everything epic about it. It feels like cheap imitation.

MC just hoards all the popular movies/dramas...... it makes it feel like he's just doing it for the money

Oh the thing that actually made me stop reading or skimming is that MC was blocked in cn and moved range to US, then MC got a job and there's a white actor going like, "shi+, they gave the role to some yellow dude." Haa I can't. I feel like it'll be a bloated version of cn negativity but framed as us's or doubled from us's. a good thing that balances it is that MC's rebirth might have been time travel instead, so that's why ML remembers some part of past life. MC's parents turned out to be geniuses who were working on time machine, and that's why they're killed. I want to read that part of the story, but I'm too turned off by MC's enemies right now = _ =" it's an ongoing struggle to finish this novel.

you know what I wanted.... despite u can u up u can't no BB, I really wanted MC just selflessly loving and supporting ML, not dead-set on becoming ML's lover and kinda emotionally cornering him. I really wanted ML slowly finding himself loving MC beyond senior-junior and unknowingly treats him like his little lover.
