I can't truly express why I like this novel so much, because I'm absolutely the farthest thing from the "give 5 stars to any story I like" type. But I love everything about this story.

Maybe it's the part where the ML embroiders the MC's wedding veil for her because he hates seeing her fingers pricked, or when he's outright complaining at their wedding about how he wants to go home - tbh, the selling point of this novel is absolutely the ML for me. The MC (imo) has little to no clear personality traits except that she's too obtuse to realize the ML cares for her - although TBH if I had future knowledge my husband would kill me, IDK that I would act less paranoid. It reminds me of Hitchcock's "Suspicion" (1941), which is a personal favorite of mine. It's also a very slow burn, which also appeals to my taste.

All I can say is, this novel is worth giving a try. I was really, really surprised to see the current reviews & ratings being quite so negative as they currently are. (It probably plays a role that it's such a slow burn and those reviews were published before my own. 92 chapters in, I can say I am dying to read the rest. I am not sure how my impressions would have differed at 20, 40, 60, etc chapters.) This story lives rent-free in my head every day, no exaggeration, and for that I am forced to say 5/5.
