I wasn’t expecting much based on the title, but over 100 episodes in, this is honestly funnier and more enjoyable than I anticipated. The ML (thankfully, IMO) isn’t the ‘cold arrogant’ type or the ‘smirky playboy’ type — he’s honestly just a guy exhausted from his bleak, multiple deaths/regressions putting on his ‘kind idol’ facade mostly out of habit, and in desperate need of a hug and a long nap. Watching him find joy and curiosity in life again through observing the FL’s antics is honestly kind of endearing and healing <3

As a bonus, the FL’s interactions with her ‘magical girl & pink ruffles’ aesthetic-loving constellation are kind of hilarious (FL is in her twenties and mortified by her constellation’s tastes and the fact she has to use magical-girl-like keywords to activate her skills), and though I do wish she’d be a bit more grateful sometimes, their bickering does provide an amusing comedic throughline (especially on the rare occasions where their tastes actually align). Her constellation reminds me of like, a rich, indulgent grandpa spoiling the first girl born into the family but unable to accept that she’s moved past her pink-and-frilly phase of life.

It’s a bit of a slow-burn, but there are quests, world-building, and a few connected mysteries to keep things interesting, even if some of the mysteries/events are fairly easy to predict, and some of the plots somewhat forced/overly convenient like the quest that leads to their cohabitation, but really, what can you expect in this genre? They’re not egregious and they don’t drag out, so I can forgive it!

So far, it’s been a cute, quick read that nicely blends slice of life with a bit of action fantasy and romance, and it looks like it will wrap up at a reasonable pace instead of dragging things out or leaving things unresolved. If I had a complaint, it’s fairly minor in that almost all of the important characters aside from the FL are male. I wish she had a female bestie or something, but that’s a pretty minor nitpick all things considered. If we could give partial ratings, I’d say this is cute-but-not-outstanding story is something like a 4.2.

That said, I’m rounding up instead of down because the translation is solid work and really easy to read! Mega thanks to SS!
