I have no idea why this novel is rated so highly. Perhaps it gets better but honestly its been disappointing for me so far

First of all, it's fine and all if the protagonist is "dense", but this is way past that.

Like it would be fine if the author didn't feel the need to regularly remind us how much action everyone except for the MC was getting...

Also, I get that the guy has self-esteem issues and all, but it gets really frustrating how much ab*se the MC has to take before he stands up for himself. It's one thing to be cool headed and ignoring jeers from strangers and stuff, but it gets frustrating how he doesn't stand up for himself.
