Clearing an Isekai with the Zero-Believers Goddess – The Weakest Mage among the Classmates (WN) Chapter 9 Discussion

Giving this a 5-star just from the mere fact that we finally have an MC who knows how to use his weak skills to the fullest instead of an MC who was literally handed all of his skills and just went traipsing around building a harem.

Edit after catching up to Chap 165:

You'll like this if you've read and are tired of mediocre, power fantasy, brain dead progression novels where the protagonist just gets handed a cheat skill and then essentially breezes through whatever crisis just oh so happens to land in front of him.

The plot is decent enough, the pacing is really great too, but most importantly, it's got a protagonist you can cheer on as he goes from weak to.. Well.. Not as weak.

The protagonist's unique skill is literally just being able to switch from 1st to 3rd person view, it's even called 'RPG Player Skill' for god's sake, his stats are so weak he's below a normal human and leveling up barely helps him since his base stats are so pathetic in the first place and on top of that, he can only use basic water magic.

What makes him so great then? Ladies and Gentlemen it's because we finally have a protagonist who ACTIVELY uses environmental advantages, always aims for the eyes first, a water mage who makes use and controls MIST AND BLOOD WHEN ASSASSINATING and just isn't uber strong and brain dead in general.

My boy Makoto actually trains, and he trains his mf-ing proficiency instead of nuking everything with firepower. He's weak as f*ck and he's conscious about his weakness, he's not some bullsh*t character who's immediately strong 5 mins into the story and just nonchalantly kills everything then makes a harem. There's some actual satisfaction whenever he defeats something. Oh, there's an arrogant hero bit*h f*ck who's tr*shtalking him and verbally harassing his girlfriends? Every other braindead overpowered protagonist out there is just gonna go 'Tee-hee I'm not gonna fight I'm a pacifist even though I'm level 999', but my homie Makoto actually went ahead and KILLED the motherf*cker, in his own kingdom, granted he got revived immediately after his mangled remains plopped down from the sky but hey, nice seeing the protagonist mu*der someone that deserves to be mu*dered.

There's also a reason to him always being in the eye of the storm, he's not just strolling around the forest going 'Oh what do we have here!' and then triggering flags left and right with no good reason, he's being actively pushed into 'danger' by his Goddess and thus organically progressing the story.

Granted his D E N S E N E S S is annoying as f*ck but hey, this is the one you pick up when you're tired of everything else and you've stopped jerking off and stroking your ego by pretending you're the protagonist of the last 13 copy paste power fantasy novels you've read.

Like I've said, there's some real gratification when the protagonist clears a hurdle, because the protagonist actually thinks to solve shit.
