The good: Good translation quality, an entertaining read, a few twists on the setting compared to the standard 'I was the weakest one in my class' premise. The main female leads are decently developed. There's some romantic progress that occurs during the series. Overall, while it doesn't excel in anything in particular, most aspects are done well. The bad: Some pacing issues. What might take a few chapters in other stories gets compressed into a single chapter here, or the wrap up for smaller events gets skipped completely. This roughness feels like stuff that would be smoothed over in the LN version. The ugly: It's a harem series and the author doesn't seem to know what to do with it, so... it stalls. The earlier parts show some awareness on the part of the MC and hints that he's being intentionally dense, but transitions to being outright dense and/or running away from progressing the relationship.Verdict: It really feels like diet Sevens. Slow power growth of the protagonist, based on acquiring powerups from time to time, with a slowly growing harem. Sevens does it better when it comes to the MC's character development, the growth of the relationships, and addressing harem interpersonal relationships.Overall, it's an entertaining story that I will follow. I really hope the harem stops growing because the relationships being stalled out as they are is already frustrating enough and any new characters that they start introducing at this point can't have as meaningful a relationship with the MC as the current ones. On the other hand, I've given up hope that the current relationships will see meaningful progress as it currently stands since progress has been pretty much dead from volume 5 onward. The author probably needs to delay those until certain major plot points have been reached.
