This is a fantastic read. It's jokes are only fairly funny but it's really good at building likable characters and interesting situations. Because of the main characters situation of being a vending machine it legitimately makes you wonder "How's he gonna get out of this one?". Being the main character he's obviously going to be amazing at the things he can do, but the fact that he can't do anything at all by himself (at the beginning at least) and that the things he can do in general are extremely limited it's a good way of building tension.I'd say this is also appreciated in a different way in the west than in japan as well. As the character can only take on traits that actual vending machines he has used in the past have had, it's much harder to guess what he's going to take advantage of next as we don't really have a vending machine culture. For instance, when he mentioned that coin operated washing machines are vending machines my main reaction was "Huh, yeah I guess they are kind of, aren't they?".The main characters inability to operate on his own is a bit frustrating but I think it builds good tension so it's not a major problem. My only other nit-pick is that we don't really get given his stats at a lot of opportunities so it's harder to gradually track his growth, but that's mostly just because I like numbers. All in all, if you can appreciate a story where the main character, while powerful in his own way, is dependent upon others then it's a great choice of a read. If you're looking for a story where the main character takes care of most things himself and is the best of the best at everything, then you'll want to look elsewhere.
