The 0.3 stars I took from a full rating is because of the few plot holes that emerged and because of the abruptness of some things that happened within the story that kind of felt bizarre and sudden. However...

I loved loved loved this story.

Let’s see, first I’ll start off with the MC.

I have a weakness for MCs who are lively, and more importantly, capable.

I’ve read a lot of stories with protagonists who had cute and lively personalities that drew me in, yet my interest was inevitably waned because these protagonists ended up being helpless and stunted like little daisies trembling in the breeze. I have a preference for characters that are confident, bold, and efficient in achieving their goals— and I can say with certainty that Ya Xiao pulled through with this excellently.

Ya Xiao is a demon who had been dealt shitty cards in his life, with his power in the form of his tail and wings literally ripped from him with a ruthless cruelty, yet he did not let this stop him for a moment as he confronted all of his obstacles with ease and enthusiasm.

The protagonist might seem cute and a little bit empty-headed from an outsider’s perspective, but this is inevitably a demon with a brain and he knows how to use it.

Confident, fun and bold. I laughed a lot reading about this guy’s quirky antics and I was never once left feeling bored. He is a very interesting and entertaining character that leaves you feeling refreshed in every way.

As for ML...

I cant deny that Qin Qi really came across as a typical male lead to me. Powerful, taciturn, and treating words like they’re gold— however, he is really a vulnerable man willing to sacrifice anything for his cause with his own guilts and insecurities.

Though I think that he’s rather cliché, I have to admit that it’s a classic ML personality for a reason. He’s absolutely nothing but sweet to the MC and he knows what he’s fighting for— a capable and strong man with weaknesses that show themselves in moments that make your heart ache for him.

I cant reveal too much without it being a spoiler, but I definitely felt that he deserved the care and attention that MC showed towards him more than anything.

He was incredibly lucky to have MC in his life and in turn, he showed complete and utter loyalty and reverence towards the little demon who shoved his way into his heart and pulled him up from the depths of destruction that he had been shoved down into.

The way these two influenced each others’ lives for the better and taught each other about love and opening up your heart was very touching and fun in every way— it was a slow burn but it didn’t feel like it as every one of their interactions left me feeling entertained.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. As I said, there were a feel plot holes that I was left feeling a little bit stumped over and some things in the plot that felt very abrupt, but in the end it wasn’t a big deal.

It’s a read that I’d absolutely recommend to anybody and is definitely worth your time. The translations were excellent and I had a really fun time reading about these two.
