I was absolutely blown away. The amount of emotion and character development the mangaka was able to portray in these panels... I came seriously close to crying. While the art style is more childish and simple most of the time, the emotions on Won Lei and Lee Yen's faces were tangible, and it hurts all the more knowing Won Lei will never get to see Lee Yen again. His last moments with her on Earth were of him betraying his friends in order to save her life, being filled with guilt and remorse because of these actions, and then being physically and emotionally tortured while Lee Yen is separated from him by a wall, unable to offer him any support.



While I also really liked Kiyomaro's fight against Leo, it was THIS fight in particular that's made me super angry with the anime. Won Lei was taken out in such a stupid way in the show, but here it's super touching and a great send-off for him. Won Lei, Lee Yen, and ALL of the characters in Zatch Bell deserved to get their story told properly, not abruptly rushed then pushed aside for the back burner of history.

Goodbye Won Lei. He protected them until the end
