This is the only isekai of the fallen-into-a-game variety I have ever enjoyed reading. The setting is both respected and fleshed out in a way that it usually isn't in other stories of this ilk. The main character's pre-existing traits are set up quickly but then believably developed over the course of the series. He is not an over-powered protagonist on a victory lap through a familiar environment to celebrate his specialness but someone who has to struggle for survival in a medieval world in which only his own power can provide him security. Lastly I want to praise this series pacing, which alternates between relentless moments of action and suspense but then offers moments of respite and character interaction inbetween, giving the next storm just the right amount of time to brew.
