Dropped at chapter 54.I wish I had it in me to continue reading, but the MC is just too brainless that it's kinda painful to read.I can appreciate dumb or goofy protagonists that make all the wrong choices, but the author writes the MC in a way that is really off-putting, and he toes the line between being of average intelligence and being incredibly naive and thoughtless. The MC at first is a fairly paranoid person who goes to great lengths to escape the castle, but then when he falls in love (more like lust) with the ML's alter, he just loses his rationality and wholly trusts him, despite the many signs of the alter scheming and overall being extremely suspicious. The MC also seems to almost forget his sense of place/not care for others around him because his world is completely centred around the ML's alter. There's nothing wrong with being head over heels for someone, but I think there is a problem when you start losing a lot of braincells and focus all your attention/put all your trust into one person, especially when that person is keeping secrets from you.My gripes with the MC might be a personal preference, but this novel made me discover that I really don't like characters (and real people!) like this, lol.I think it especially bothered me when the MC didn't think to consider how awkward things would be for the ML (as in the "original" LBH) or how the ML would even feel about the MC and his alter's relationship. Like holy cow... the ML is "sharing" a body with his alter, and they could swap consciousness at any moment- yet the MC still cares about his needs and desires and doesn't even consider how the ML would feel if he swapped in while they were being intimate, or if he woke up next to his naked body.If I were in the ML's position, I'd be quite freaked out or even feel violated if I suddenly woke up naked next to the emperor in bed, with zero recollection of what happened the previous night. It would feel even worse knowing that someone else took over your body "without your consent" to be intimate with another person. It seriously bothers me that all three of them (the MC, ML and the ML's alter) didn't try to communicate over things like boundaries, what is and isn't okay, the state of their relationship (s) and what it means for the three of them. I especially feel bad for the ML because he seems to mature as a character and even puts his feelings aside to indulge in the MC and his alter.Idk, all this is enough to make me not want to continue reading. But if you can put up with all this, by all means go ahead and give it a read!
