I’m Pregnant with the Hope of the Entire Planet Chapter 98 Discussion

This started out cute, I was fine with all the little plot holes since the setting was somewhat original and the romance seemed promising. But it's devolved into a directionless mess with bigger and bigger plot holes. It feels like the author got bored of their own story and just kept adding in potential plot threads only to abandon them a chapter or two later. Throwaway characters are introduced and abandoned just as quickly.

There is no romance. At all. MC goes the entire pregnancy believing that everyone thinks of him as a baby incubator and no one bothers disavowing him of the notion (honestly it seems true.) Would-be hubby goes from being occasionally doting to... constantly threatening? He thinks of/treats MC as a child (which a 20-y/o would be to a 600-y/o but normally you'd try to downplay that if they're supposed to be a couple, right!?!) MC is like, "I might like him a little, but once I pop out these babies he'll kick me to the curb." Doki-doki level: -10

All of this makes it increasingly hard to ignore the most over-the-top nationalist propaganda of pretty much any series of this genre I've read. It normally doesn't bother me at all, but it's unbelievably cringy in this. Aside from MC going on about how China was the greatest country with the kindest most generous and welcoming people (despite his backstory being: orphaned, picked up by ab*sers who used him for s*ave labor, no one ever helped him, and then truck-kun'd???) you also get gems like, "actually racial segregation is for the best maybe?" and "social credit systems will ensure fairness!" and "we should take over this backwater planet because obviously our technology is superior and it's for their own good!" Ma'am, this is an mpreg dragon BL, are you lost? Spoiler

Also, multiple characters have told MC that ML is responsible for the segregation and subjugation of his own race but he just ignores them or doesn't care because they are villain-coded (despite not having done anything particularly evil?) and never heard from again--honestly would be a hilarious parody, but I think the author is 100% serious.

[collapse]

Even the face-slapping is incredibly unsatisfying--you're hoping for, "actually I'm incredibly famous and in demand, so maybe your preconceptions about humans are wrong, " but instead it's, "actually I happen to be well-connected to the most powerful people of your master race [because I'm a baby incubator] so I'm special!" MC constantly is frustrated by the racism but then just goes, "oh well, it is what it is." His character is incredibly inconsistent both in his values and his personal motivations. It's hard to care about his goals when he can't be bothered to remember them.

I get the impression that the translator is exhausted with the series as well since it used to be perfectly readable, but I can't understand half of what's going on the latest chapters. To be fair, the constant location changes, random unimportant characters, time skips, and dropped plot threads are probably difficult to keep straight, but all of this to say: I have to drop this dumpster fire.
