We're still pretty early into the release of this light novel series, but so far it is one of the best and one of the most unique light novel series I've seen. Our main character isn't here to have a fun time. He was reborn as a demon and seeks revenge against the demons who are slowly winning a war against humanity, but in order to do so, he has to work with people he despises, kill innocents, and just generally give up on all of his principles. He's not a sociopath either, he doesn't enjoy doing these things but he does them because it's the only way to save humanity and ruin the demon kingdom that killed everyone he loves. It's part action fantasy and part fascinating psychological journey. The worldbuilding is pretty great too, and even relatively minor side characters are interesting and well-developed. The story is well-paced too, and I can't think of a single chapter that I found boring because there's always some new, fascinating bit of worldbuilding, character development, or plot twist that keeps you turning the pages.
