The more I read this, the more I thought I was reading a children's picture book. Every single situation is explained so simply and solved without a hitch. Every character in the novel and MC included feels absolutely void of any qualities or traits and at most, a very basic example of a cliched character. I'd argue most are there just for some needed exposition for our MC's next problem. And so this happens continuously, rinse and repeat. It's utterly plain and on level, if not worse, than those standard Wuxia novels.

I'd say I had more fun reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar (OG power fantasy btw) than this.

Spoiler

Not to mention a quarter of the story gone until appearance of said villainess.

I love this book. Cannot wait to finish this book and read the sequels. I am never disappointed reading a book by Cassandra M. She is truly talented.
