Villager A Wants to Save the Villainess no Matter What! Chapter 99 Discussion

Honestly, this wasn’t a bad read. It’s nothing show-stopping or anime adaption-worthy, not by any means, but it’s decent enough. The MC, Allen is pretty ruthless when he has to be, but he takes an understandable route to get to that point. He wants to save his mother and the other people he’s come to care about from the chaos that will inevitably come from the “canon” ending of the game (which ends with the city they live in being destroyed). So, he uses his meta knowledge and ingenuity to claim as many advantages as he reasonably can. Granted, some of those advantages (like abusing Wind Magic and Alchemy to make guns) is a bit much, but, let’s face it, it’s an Isekai. You have to suspend your disbelief a bit.

Besides him, though:

Another factor to consider is Amy, the Heroine; or at least the person who reincarnated into Amy and is trying to take her role in the story. There’s no excuse for her, she’s a horrible person through and through, and constantly plays around with people for the sake of her perfect ending. She wants her luxurious reverse harem life and to hell with anyone who gets in her way. Amy’s the primary antagonist of the story who just can’t comprehend that the world she’s in isn’t a game anymore, and she throws a tantrum when things don’t go the way she wants. She constantly jabs at Anastasia just because she’s supposed to be the Villainess, even after Anna goes out of her way to not be associated with Amy in any way, and she actively WANTS Anna to be bad ended and turned into a living weapon just because that’s what’s supposed to happen. She can’t see Allen as anything more than an NPC, even after finding out he’s a reincarnate like herself. To put it bluntly, you can consider her to be an analogue of Marie from MobuSeka, if Marie didn’t have any redeeming or sympathetic qualities. And, unlike Allen, she’s perfectly content with letting things go down their “proper” path, even if it causes war and destruction in their kingdom. In a way, Amy is a dark mirror of Allen, who, rather than changing things for the better with hard work and knowledge of the future, wants everything handed to her because she’s “special”. It’s the same reason why, later on in the story, she doesn’t become a Saint, but rather a Witch of Envy (hi there Satella!).

Even with all that said, it’s both sad and satisfying to see the crazy bit*h meet her end.

All in all, it’s a bit much to say it’s a carbon copy of MobuSeka (like I’ve seen some reviews state). There are certainly a lot of similarities, but it’s not like this novel’s tr*sh. Even still, it’s something that you only really need to read once.
