Admittedly some parts were draggy and felt slightly bothersome to read; eg. Some flashback arcs slightly disrupted the pace of the novel imo, HOWEVER, if you are looking for a good revenge plot with diverse characters, slow-burn, mystery, (dark) humour, and a realistic MC, this is the novel for you.The bulk of the novel does not focus on the romance between the MC and ML, however is does largely come hand-in-hand with the MC's thought process and his progress (stats wise) throughout the novel. Many of the reviews that rated the novel on the lower end have yet to read past the 150+ chapter mark and many of the issues they brought up were addressed in later parts of the novel.The MC is not OP from the beginning and does not have strong mental resilience, and much of the plot stems from his reliance on the side characters' abilities. This does not necessarily mean the MC is completely useless, but is in a sense realistic for a character who was blatantly described since the beginning to be your average, run of the mill, 20+ year old guy who hasn't been exposed to the harsh elements of the Dungeon scene for very long. Plus, it helped to bring the other side characters into the plot more smoothly and added more substance to the novel to prevent it from being too one-dimensional.The novel has interesting plot twists and character background stories as well, and along with the various quirks of all the characters, it makes this novel a highly enjoyable and addictive one to read.If you are looking for your average BL novel, I'd suggest reading elsewhere as this is more plot-centric than romance, with an established relationship only MUCH later in the novel as compared to other typical ones. It is, however, very much worth reading if you are interested in picking up a horror-fantasy novel focusing on complex human relationships with some BL aspects.Overall good read with little complaints and I can't wait to finish the novel.
