This is honestly very underrated. I think the synopsis is already enough to know not to expect some epic, serious war; it's more so a mostly lighthearted adventure romance story. There are stakes though, and some "mysteries" as well as some twists, the story is simple but not boring. Most plot points get resolved relatively easily, but the plot is not the focal point anyway. This is the kind of romance where, in the beginning, you just can't imagine the MC and ML ever getting together, where you're left wondering what events would ever lead to them falling in love. And then at some point they get together and it's one of the best, smoothest, cutest processes you've ever seen because its so gradual, like a frog slowly but surely getting boiled without noticing, and there's such a tacit understanding between them. It's actually a very unique way of getting together, normally theres this realization that they're in love, then sometimes denial and at last a dramatic confession. This novel didn't do that, which was refreshing. If you've read until up here, just give the novel a try! If I had to critique one aspect, it'd be that adult scenes were only implied and very vague, which was a shame. As is apparent through this review, I really liked this novel, it was relaxing and I'm going to miss it when diving deep into historical dogblood plots.
