I tried to read this TWICE, and dropped at the same point both times, which say something.

I had forgotten it for some time, gave it another chance, and now I remember why I dropped it the first time around.

Because both ML and MC are so very frustrating!

So this is a fake contract turned true lover type of story, but the process is so imbalanced.

ML is your typical cold domineering CEO. He's not actually that scummy, but his indifference and irresponsibility makes me mad! You want to hire someone to be your fake lover that you apparently dote on, right? Then why didn't you explain to your acquaintances that this lover is someone you care about greatly and isn't someone to be casually toyed with?! Why didn't you give him security when you know that you will bring him into a messy circle of rich ignorant dandies?! Do you think he can defend himself if forced by those rich second generations?!

He is someone you hire as a fake lover, not someone you hire as a punching bag for those bastards! Can't you even say a single word to explain to your best friend to not view him as a disgusting gold digger?! YOU'RE the one taking him in! Why should he get blamed for your ignorance?!

You also complain he gets sick so much, but if you don't like him then why keep him?! If you wanna keep him, the least you could do is to give him respect! 💢💢💢MC too! He's so much a pushover it makes me explode in RAGE! He's so contradictory it's frustrating.

He claims to not want to be ab*sed and get away from trouble, yet he's oddly resigned towards the so-called fate and calmly accepts all the ab*se as if he can't avoid them no matter what he does.

Which is absurd. BECAUSE HE DID ALMOST NOTHING!

The only attempts he did to deflect trouble before it happened were taking action against his scum father and counter-frame a school bully. Good for him.

But trouble from ML's side? Nah.

He was bullied by a group of ignorant dandies TWICE in the same party and didn't utter a word to defend himself nor ask for apology. Not even utilizing his status as ML's doted lover to affirm his position and give himself a layer of security. I don't care if it's a bluff! You're just a little insignificant shrimp! If you don't guard yourself then who will?!

He was practically kidnapped and almost sexually assaulted by another rich dandy bc he was ML's lover, but he acted as if he was the one giving ML trouble when he called for help! For fck's sake! It's ML's responsibility to ensure your safety! Even though he can't casually offend other families just for you, it's basic human decency to protect a victim! Why should you give a reason so ML would help you?! IT'S NOT YOUR FCKING FAULT!!!!!

And that MC also accept it resignedly when ML's friends viewed him as a good for nothing gold digger! Where's your dignity?!

You claim to not want misunderstandings but you don't even try to explain yourself?! Is it good to keep being seen as a good for nothing vixen?! Did you sign a contract to be a lover or to be a gold digger? Why should you bear all these judgmental and disdainful words just because ML is too ignorant to warn his friends?!

It's one thing to not want misunderstandings, but it's another thing entirely to NOT TRY to explain and accept all accusations as if it's all indeed your fault!

I understand he's not that emotionally fluent in dealing with people. But what angered me the most was his inaction and just let the misunderstandings be!

HE'S NOT LACKING COURAGE OR ANYTHING! HE JUST DOESN'T EVEN TRY!!

An ML who doesn't know he's being irresponsible, and an MC who doesn't even try to defend himself. You get how this can be frustrating.

Their relationship is very imbalaced, both from social status and personalities. If MC can somewhat hold his ground to balance ML's coldness and indifference, I could still go on to find out where their relationship would go. But he can't.

But all in all, I am someone who had dropped this novel twice, so I am unqualified to rate the overall romance or the whole plot. MC and ML aren't without good qualities either, it's just that I personally can't stand those flaws.

Perhaps there would be character developments in later chapters though. I just can't power through it anymore.

Don't let my rant stop you from reading and judge this novel for yourself. At least the translation is pretty good.
