you rly get attached to characters you usually wouldnt care about, because the author is so good at integrating almost everyone into a conceivable, working world. like I remember each side character and their story......... and im invested in them. author is up to some black magicks because usually I couldnt care less about side characters haha.
a lot more slice of life and believable exposition/worldbuilding in this novel that rly makes me ache for more quality survival novels that care about details.
pacing is pretty good - plot thickens in believable ways, nothing too crazy that breaks the suspension of disbelief that usually is the last thing holding my sanity together when mtling or even just reading apocalyptic novels. id say the pacing and characterization of this novel is where it really shines, since it stands out from the crowd of forgettable op MCs in zombie apocalypses with boring background casts and mindnumbing plot devices to advance the growth. I know ive said it a lot in this, but everything is just... so BelievableTM. and thats really because the author takes the time to flesh out the world, the characters, and the setting.

sometimes it drags in certain places, and its been 171 chapters and we still dont know mc's ability, since the space is from the beads. speaking of the beads - author doesnt really rush to fill in these kind of plot holes. like, I still want to know what happened to yun feiyang (???) and the bodyguard. author I just want to have a talk. a nice friendly talk... please bring yun feiyang back. omg.
but the plot is JUST interesting enough and JUST progressing enough that im still curious and not downright frustrated. the action is always just this close to desperate measures that it doesnt feel like MC is breezing through the apocalypse, either; hes growing in strength and it shows.
another reviewer mentioned it takes 140 chapters for ML to get his adult form and pretty much up until around 130 or so their relationship is wholly compassionate and intimate with none of the romantic passion. buckle up for some slow burn, babyyy. the author does ramp up the romance like, right after though, and theyre comfortably dating around id say chapter 165
