Turns out it is actually a sifi/horror adventure game. Turns out it is also a depiction of real events (in the far future), and the "cub" he is raising is another player... the sifi era general who first experienced those events and is reliving them as part of exposure therapy. The two slowly bond in the game as they try to uncover the true mysteries behind the evenrs that happened in those years.
