An interesting novel, for sure. The plot is rather unique, in the sense that we gradually discover things along with the main character as he discovers them himself, although we get a spare extra hint along the way.Spoiler
Bai Yan begins as a transmigrator from Earth into a similarly modern world where the supernatural exists. Although rather stable and sort of nihilistic, as the plot moves forward he begins to progress into a different mindset. He generally wants to see the pain of those he deems evil, which gets more intense as time goes on and his scope of 'violent thoughts' broadens.
At first, the only hint of this transformation is the man at the DHA, Lin Bian, who dislikes the MC because he "smells of madness." Later on, Bai Yan realizes himself that he's getting more abnormal thoughts.
Towards the chapter I left off on, there's a suggestion made that he went back in time after he failed to (???), but he doesn't remember.
[collapse]So far, so good. The psychological changes in the "operators" are gradual and don't seem to be rushed too much, so it provides a fun dynamic where he has to please them and keep their moods up.
